Horia Mihail



Pianist Horia Mihail made his debut in his native city of Brașov, performing Haydn’s Concerto in D major, at the age of only ten. Since then he has performed in concert more than two hundred times, with the great majority of Romania’s symphonic orchestras, including the George Enesco Philharmonic from Bucharest and the National Radio Orchestra. “The rhythmic subtlety and articulation of the atmosphere, the sound color, have been such that this music (Prokofiev) too rarely enjoys,” wrote the Boston Globe in a review of one of his concerts.

He recieved his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Music University in Bucharest, Romania and also studied at Longy School of Music in Cambrige, Massachusets, in the Artist Diploma program. He made masterclasess with grate cellists like Arto Noras, Frans Helmerson, Herre Jan Stegenga, Miklos Pereny, Marin Cazacu and Radu Aldulescu.

Currently a soloist with the Radio Romania Orchestras and Choirs and the Paul Constantinescu Philharmonic in Ploieşti, and a member of the Transylvanian Quartet of the Transylvania Philharmonic in Cluj, Gabriel Croitoru is involved in wide-ranging projects such as The Duel of Violins and Enescu’s Violin in the Villages. He teaches at the National University of Music in Bucharest.
